All the riches of the island under one roof! Labeled "Musée de France" by the Ministry of Culture, the Ile d'Oléron Museum reopened in 2006 in a large building located in the heart of the town of Saint-Pierre d'Oléron. The museum brings together more than 500 objects evoking traditional life and activities on the island. It tells about viticulture, salt farming, gemmage, oyster farming or fishing. It presents headdresses, costumes and everyday objects. The museum also testifies to the tourist and artistic attraction of the island.
